Unfortunately the ink never came with printer so it is being over nighted. As for pretreat we are looking at a umber of units but are waiting to see what lawsons has up their sleeve first. We may very well create a homeade unit due to pretreaters being outrageous in cost for what they do. But never know if Brian can lower his price we might consider it.
Congrats on the new machine, look forward to hearing how well it works! I probably won't be looking to purchase another DTG until late 2010/early 2011, but by then it should be well broken in and tested
Exciting! How does the cost per print compare to Dupont inks? Are you using a conveyor or heat press?
From the size of the machine compared to the people in the shot, that unit is huge! Looks like you had to take the doors off to get it in the workspace.
You know We are all dying for more info, CC per print, white ink cost, printing and curing times, Picture samples, art prep, etc... You'll be an inspiration ( if not a guru) to many sharing that info . CONGRATS on the purchase, In Europe we're still waiting, ( it seems it is easier and cheaper to buy Brother in the US than here).
Thanks for the info and pics. We'll be waiting to see more from you. I'm heading down to NOLA for the SGIA show next week. The GT 782 is the printer that I have in mind that'll be right for me, but I need to see all of them in action. Can you tell us why you chose the Brother?
Presently own GT 541 as well and EXTREMELY more reliable than ANY epson converted machine i owned and have witnessed.
Picks below don't show a deeper white as I asked for in my settings as I realized afterwards my white channel 3 wasn't firing. Not clogged but the head didn't fill up for some odd reason. Nontheless produced a decent white still. So picture a deeper white but the same ink cost as shown in picture.
This image after subtracting 30% was about $1.97 if I remember...

Did a Brother tech do the setup? Seems like a bad thing to miss considering the added cost of installation.
That is so awesome. Can't wait to see and hear more. I have to pump up my volume so I can get one
Good luck and keep us all updated. You know everyone is curious as to how the white ink printing with the brother will work out over time.

The Tech was great. But as all installation go there is set up time and assembly and I never said we were ready to print lol. The Tech was aware of the issue and was geting everything flowing and did minus the head issue which I must was working after he left and I noticed it drop out after I was tinkering with it later that evening. It had something to do with the data cable from the head. It was loose the first time it happened so there was like no communication or something from the head I guess but it was fixed at that time. I'm assuming it just got loose again. I don't feel it was a issue as setting something up always has to be fine tuned before one can let it rip. The tech recognized the issue asap and was addressing it. I have no worries. Again the Tech was very knowledgeful of the printer.

So about $2.50 (ink plus fixation) for a modestly covered 11 x 13 image? Seems like a lot of money for a relatively low coverage image, but I am sure we'll get a better idea of average print costs as more and more people get into production and start posting results like this; thanks for the info!!
