We've had our GT-541 for over 2 years and it's been very reliable. However, every time I compare our results with conventional screen printing, I wonder if there are some tricks I'm not aware of to make designs pop more like screen printing. My designs on light T's look washed out after coming out of the heat press. I've got a customer for whom we provide an ash grey Tee with RED text only and it looks like it's been thru the wash when I deliver it. So I am thinking there must be some things that I missed in Brother's 15 minutes of training on a $ 20K machine! ! ! Are there good seminars or webinars for GT-541 users? I'm open to suggestions.
Thanks-
Robin
Thanks for these tips. I'll try both. My palete editor says I'm using "GT-541_Colors2.cpl" palette but I've got choices of "Default CMYK" and "Default RGB" palettes as well. Should I change this palette setting?
Thanks-
Robin
I feel your pain. We have these issues too. Sometimes prints pop beautifully then other times they are a bit drab. Upping the vivid setting and double printing can help but then you have to remember what settings you did the first time when you get the repeat order.
We have had our best luck matching RGB values off the color chart that brother has. Try to get a customer to pick a color off there is possible, if not you can always go into the file and up the cyan, magenta, yellow or black a bit. Then save it and you are good to go next time.

And I feel your pain about the 15 minutes of training you got. We bought our gt541 from a local dealer who sells more screen printing inks than anything else. They were pretty much useless. I have a 782 on order from Axiom and so far they seem to be 10 times more knowledgeable than the guy we got the 541 from. Time will tell.

HOOSIER DADDY, are you using Photoshop or Coral Draw? Also, for all owners interested i've uploaded a few more specific color charts.
I am using Corel Draw X3. That was the program that the Brother distributor was using and they indicated it should/would work fine. Was I given bad advice? The price was sure right compared to Adobe Illustrator.
And thanks for the attached files; I'll take a look at them when I can.
HOOSIER DADDY, log onto the brother owners area and look at how to setup Coral Draw X3 color settings. This will help you get a more consistent color output. This may have not been done properly during the initial setup of the equipment.

I logged onto www.brother-usa.com where I'm already registered but couldn't find anything pertaining to Corel color settings. Could you possibly paste a link in a reply to this post? Also, I saw something re: "PDQ" software which apparently is free to registered users allowing us to "buy" designs to use. I've not heard anything from Brother re: PDQ; has anyone used it yet? If yes, fill me / us in on how it works, good/bad, etc.
Thanks-
Robin
Robin, PDQ is in the final testing stages and should be released soon. For future reference on the color settings check the owner log in area under the tips & tricks area
