Default Printing a grid on the platen sheet

I am thinking about printing a grid on my Brother platens.

My platens already have the platen sheets "glued" to them.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to cure the ink after I print on the sheet so the ink doesn't run/smear on the garments later.

Will a heat gun do the trick? Any idea if it will mess with the glue holding the sheet to the platen?

Not sure about heating the glue... but if it was me I would just let it air dry over night... You won't be washing it soooo... no worries if I'm understanding your concerns correctly...

Let it air dry overnite.... I tried to cure the ink with heat and warped the platen.... platen ends up in the trash.
Also, dial down your ink volume when you print the platen. Default is 10, platen grid should print fine at 4

For registered brother owners, log in and download the latest driver and tools. Once downloaded un-zip the file and in the useful tools folder you will find a 14X16, 10X12, and 7X8 platen grid arp. this file uses less than 0.10 cc of ink. For any brother owner who was not shown the brother owners log in send me a PM and ill show you hoe to get set up.

What do you use to open the .arp file?

I mainly use PhotoShop Elements 7 and it won't open the file. I've tried opening it with other programs and searched the net and can't find what I need to open it.

I want to use the grid as a layer in PSE7 so I need to be able to open and save it with PSE7. I think I might be better off just creating my own grid in PSE7, printing it on the platen and saving it.

Thanks for everyone's help,

Dennis Graves

Thanks for your offer Dave, but I had already created my own.

Sorry it took so long to reply, I was out of town for the NBM show in Tampa.

You can print directly on the cover sheet. You can also buy additional covers sheets to replace the one already on there. You can buy additional cover sheets. They have anadhesive backing.

I'm not sure I follow. you can't see the grid through the shirt so how does it help in alignment. Image placement is done on the computer screen. I guess I still don't see how it helps.

Still, if you can't see the grid through the shirt and you position the image on the computer screen how is it helping to print the grid on the platen? When we do a left chest on our gt 541 we center the shirt and pull it till the neck line is at the edge of platen. the actual placement of the image is measured off on the computer screen.
