Unhappy BIG problem, see picture

Guys, The Cyan ink is banding but it's not a blockage issue. If you look at the attached image you will see the staircase print shows that all nozzles are clear but further down, the striped blocks have some lines missing.

Look carefully at the missing stripes and you will see that the printer is printing a wavy line

I've done a nozzle clean and installed a new wiper cartridge and Cyan ink. The folks at Direct 2 Shirt and my U.K dealer think it may be electrical. Has anyone seen this problem before?

Thanks
Dean

Printing causes banding. I had a job with a large blue area and it looked real bad.

I'm going to try swapping the ribbon cables on the printhead to eliminate that. Any other ideas will be most welcome.

Try cleaning around head or lightly cleaning head directly with swab with mixture of 50 percent distilled water and cleaning solution

Hi, I've done the clean using the nozzle cleaning kit. The head is spotless and all nozzles are firing (see staircase print).

You might want to use a mirror (preferably one that magnifies) and really study the bottom of the print head. You could have a very fine piece of lint that is hard to see, but is blocking the flow when it is printing.

That doesn't look normal, to me. Do you usually have one or more nozzles printing a wavy line in the test pattern? I don't... Given how important it is for every dot to fall exactly where the printer tells it to on the t-shirt, I don't see how that would not be noticeable on a print.

Dean; can you print a large image and show us how bad the problem is? IMHO, the pattern looks too consistent to be any sort of stuck lint or anything; I wouldn't rule out electrical, though! I have never seen this problem, so I am just throwing stuff out there.

Have you been rolling your ink carts? Supposedly, that can destroy these "very industrial" print heads, in a matter of moments....

This post was in May, I'd hope he has this fixed by now. If so, Dean, what was the fix?

haha I didn't even see the date; I just saw a new post. I wonder what the problem wound up being? Hopefully, replacing the ribbon cable resolved his issue.

Justin, I guess you missed my post on your blocked head thread but this is what happened..
Two of the industry experts told me it was electrical. Either inside the GT-541 or maybe to do with the external wiring in my factory. The DTG sat between 2 six head Brothers so I moved it away and gave it it's own dedicated socket. I swapped the ribbons but the problem remained.

Brother U.K said that there had not been one case of a blocked head over and convinced me that mine would be alright. I had nothing to loose so I went through 4 swabs and half a bottle of wash fluid and scrubbed the thing to death.... It worked and has been running perfectly ever since.

Bare in mind that I had cleaned the head with a new service kit and it was spotless before I got aggressive and scrubbed it. I had done multiple head cleans and power cleans which only wasted a load of ink

Dean,

Does this mean when one cleans the head you need to scrub the printhead firmly? Won't that damage or cause a nozzle to potentially clog?
