Default 500cc inks are in Baby

I hope all is well. I wanted to give you the heads up, we just received the pricing on the new 500cc cartridges from Brother. They will be $350/ea(CMYK). This will yield roughly a 25% savings on your ink cost down to $0.70 a cc from the current $0.91.

?? I sure hope that is a mistake! I have been told by my local reps, as well as others within Brother, that the new ink cost would definitely be UNDER .50 per CC; if they just threw that out the window, then I would be very disappointed in the bait and switch tactics and wishy-washy marketing that Brother has been employing, as of late. 50% of the current cost of the Brother inks MIGHT be reasonable; 75% is still well within the "overpriced" category.

Just as a side note; I quoted somebody on a design the other day, and the INK COST ALONE was $2.27 (SINGLE PASS) - keep in mind there was a lot of black in the image, BUT, the overall image size was only 11" x 12"! Anybody who wants to argue that the Brother inks don't need to come down in price is crazy; at this rate, a mere 25% savings on ink would not only NOT satisfy most Brother owners, but it is going to make many people (myself included) completely disregard the idea of purchasing the new 782; they were printing that relatively SMALL image of a tiger at the shows, and it used around 4.5 CC of ink; at .75 per CC, that means that image would be $3.38 BEFORE pretreatment, time, overhead, etc. Imagine what a 12 x 14 or a full size image would cost..... Your customers are going to laugh their asses off when you tell them how much their order of 48 black shirts is going to cost them.... Unless, of course, you only want to do high end retail items - that has always been the "workaround" solution for printing with Dupont based machines, so why not? Of course, then Brother is not really offering a true production machine for darks, since it will only really fit into an isolated market.

Oh well; got my hopes up a little too early, I guess... I was really counting on Brother to do something reasonable.

What I was told early in game was it 30% cheaper not 50% in my dreams Ha
single pass?? ink level at 10.. I always do at 6 and prints just as good for me.
Oh god ink cost for white will be soo high, why I don't ever bother doing dark garments, no profit in it when people can have it silk screened

I was told by very reputable Brother associates, that it had already been reduced down to .50 per CC, and they were debating about going lower. Now, as the real prices start to hit, they really don't put as much of a dent as I thought they would in the Sawgrass / aftermarket ink situation. Interesting.

But hey, any reduction in price is a good start... Maybe they have more tricks up their sleeve? Who knows.

Is the ink made in USA or Japan? Yen is worth more than US dollar making it a change price wise as what they may of told you previously, I see increase of price on Roland machines this year..
