Wink Can you create a distressed look with a brother 541?

Hi, I'm very close to purchasing the brother 541, I've looked into the alternatives of the printers that use white ink but I'm just not impressed. I was going through my design templates and I'm curious as how you would create the distressed look with this printer. The corel draw templates include a bitmap overlay which gives the distressed look, but they are white, so now I'm stumped. Has anyone done this? Thanks!

You should consider just adding a distressed filter (layer) to you art. You shouldn't need to rely on your printer to do it.

Good luck.

Thanks Corey, I started thinking about it again in the middle of the night and it dawned on me that the shirt color will be what causes the distressed. I went to your website and watched your video, which was great. Quick question......... how often do you run into the problem of not being able to print on darks? I've not heard of any negatives on the brother 541 other than that. The rep of course is very convincing that you just need to re-educate your customers. Any input would be great,
thanks,
Kathy Mac

Your Welcome,I run into the dark problem on a regular basis but your rep is correct you do need to educate your customers because they think they tell you what they want and POOF they just appear. So yes I loose some but I also print on alot of colored shirts with just 1 darker ink color and if the job is big enough and they want to pay I sub out my black and navy shirts for multi color jobs you just need a good contract screenprinter to work with and you can keep the customer and make a few bucks for just doing the art prep. And you are absolutly right about the distressed process.Just remember "BUYERS ARE LIARS"The trouble free work you can do with a Brother will make all the other headhaces seem not so bad. Also it is so easy to make a quick sample that converts a lot of would be dark shirt customers into white shirt customers.
