Default GT-782 print curing

Howdy,
I'm getting ready to purchase the 782 and had a couple of questions.

Is anyone curing prints with a heat press? If so what are the issues?

Which tunnel dryer are most people using with the 782?

Anyone have any experience with Equipment Zone's pretreat machine?

Cheers,
Ron

We are using a black body conveyor dryer. The digi cure model Conveyor Dryers

You will need some ventilation though.
Takes 5 minutes to go through.

Are you experiencing any scorching on the lighter colors? How long and wide is your dryer? We are currently using a 16 x 20 Hix swing man press and it does a nice job.

Ron,
1) if you use a heat press some customers need 2-3 to keep up with the printer and pretreater; specially if doing all actions simultaneously. Also, some people do not like the look of shirts heat pressed with a Teflon sheet, so you may need to use parchment paper sheets; with a parchment paper sheet the print looks very similar to using a dryer.
2) The tunnel dryer most "new" customers use is the BBC Digi Dry air-2411, which is a 24 wide belt by 11 feet. I believe the chamber is 8 feet. Yet, you can use other models just make sure ot check with your distributor on specs needed to cure ink properly. Also, take into consideration of operating size and cost since a electric dryer can be as short as 11feet and most gas dryers approach 20+ feet. In some areas natural gas is significantly cheaper than electric yet property insurance rates may go up when using a gas dryer. all things to consider if you go with a dryer.
3) from what i understand only certain pretreaters are recommended by brother due to the specific amount of pretreat needed. You may want to check with your Brother sales rep to confirm which model(s) are recommended. Brother International - Digital Garment Printers

Thanks for all the information. I would love to talk with an owner to get all my questions asked.

I may start out with the press(es) and see how things go then move into a dryer if necessary.

Cheers,
Ron

If you post all your questions here in the forums (by starting a new topic for each question like you did with this one), it's likely a Brother GT 782 owner will see them and respond when they have time. That way it will also help future buyers and customers who are interested in that machine to find answers
