[Flexi-Jet Model S] Help with Flexi Jet Print Head
I wanted to ask a question pertaining to cleaning the print head on my flexi s. Went to the DTG forum but it says "Forum Closed". Is this temporary and for how long?
My Question: Can I use cotton swabs to gently scrub the actual surface of the print head to try and release clogs?

Does anyone know what happened to the DTG forum????
I noticed that about the forum as well. Not sure what happened. However back to your issue
Brian, always use a lint free cloth or a foam swab. You have no idea what a mess a regular cotton swab will cause. Not to mention the issues it can cause. Foam swabs are the way to go. I must go through 20-25 a week with daily cleanings!
You definitely want to use a foam swab or something that is lint-free. If you leave anything for ink to collect on in this area, it could dry, then during restart or a cleaning, the Wiper Blade could smear that "ink bunny" across the Nozzle Plate (bottom of the Printhead) causing more problems. This also occurs if you have pets. I have cleaned numerous Capping Stations that had an excess of ink build-up with pet hair as an accumulator (today again).
Cleaning the Nozzle Plate with a swab or cloth should be an absolute last resort if machine cleanings and soaking in Maintenance Solution cannot remove visible ink residue from the Nozzle Plate. Take a good look at the area before you clean. You will only want to clean where there is visible residue, and it's best to gently swipe from front to back (or back to front) trying to stay away from the actual Nozzles (they appear to be small lines on the Nozzle Plate, but are actually rows of tiny holes where the ink is discharged). Use enough solution to saturate the area as you clean. Do a KK2 cleaning immediately when finished to "flush" away any ink you may have loosened. Check your results with a Nozzle Check before and after.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
I can't help but notice that there's been little comment on the DTG forum closure. Would it be considered rude of me if I were to ask Dan directly why this has happened? I feel like I have lost a part of my family. I really looked forward to reading and learning from the forum each day.

I couldn't agree more Brian!
I hope it is a temporary closure of the DTGInks forum, but whatever it is-
Thanks Dan for three years of friendship, fun, learning and growing. It's been a blessing to many. And thanks for your constant availability to help anyone who had need whether there was any $$ profit in it or not! I wish for you many more years of friendship, and business success as well.

Just to clarify, which DTG forum are you referring to?
The one here at t-shirtforums.com is open, so I'm assuming you mean a different forum on a different site like inkjetgarmentprinters.com or another one?
Michele is talking about the dtginks.com forum. Its a private forum for machine owners that Dan had going. I also tried to sign in as well Michele, and it does say Forum Closed. I talked to Dan last week and he did not mention anything about closing it, hopefully he is just updating or something. Hmmm I don't know

Rodney, I hope you don't mind but us Flexi-Jet users now have nowhere to ask for help with our machines. Would it be appropriate if we asked each other here? Right now I'm having a 1000c error message and I could have looked it up on the DTGinks.com forum but it's closed. Can anyone say what that error message means?
Thanks.
P.S. I could have called Belquette but they are closed on Fridays.

Brian,
I'm not sure what the c stands for however the 00010000 message is a paper feed moter encoder check error. Try turning off the machine and unplugging and replugging in the connections to the machine. As always ensure that they aren't damaged. It could also be due to low humidity, however I can't imagine that this time of year in Jamaica you're running into that!
