Re: MOD-1 DTG HD Video of the machine in action at SGIA 2008
Thanks Rodney this was the only machine I did not see printing because they said they were running low on shirts, Jerid said he would print one but he said they were low so I didn't want to make him do it.
Thanks for the videos, a lot of new stuff coming out.

I have to say this machine seems to be the fastest of the epson heads out there. Congrats to Brett and Mark (and yes Renee for spectacular customer service ).
The double pass feature looks really nice...you dont know how many times I wished I had a remote control to auto start the color layer over white on the Flexi for my shop. It might sound lazy to some but it comes down to production! And it looks like this machine delivers

Maybe Mark, Brett or Jerid can clear something up about this. It was my understanding that for the double pass feature to work, you had to put two passes of the same layer in the RIP (i.e. two passes of CMYK at a lower resolution or two passes of white ink at a lower resolution). Is this correct or can you do the double pass with one white layer and one CMYK layer?
I agree that not having to hit the load / print button to put the CMYK layer down on top of the white layer would save a ton of time of the long-term. You just can't stand over the printer all the time when you got a business to run.

Looking forward to the answer.

Hey Mark, it was good to see you at the show, always a pleasure.
As to printing, when in the double pass mode, as soon as the white ink is finished printing, the shirt draws back in the machine and instantly begins printing again. Color on white. So it is an incredible time saver. No buttons to hit unless you are in single pass mode.
As for pricing per shirt print, we were printing a 10x14 image at the show on black and the overall cost was about $2.10 using a gradient underbase. With color ink costing about $0.15. The RIP gives you a price per print on screen. You can pause the RIP and print the job and see the pricing before you printed if necessary.

On BelQuette's Flexi-jet you can also do two passes without pushing the green start button again- by selecting the white and the color layers or just multiple color layers in the RIP, then using the control panel on the base to select two passes. In fact the base can run up to four passes without having to stop, which enables both multiple layer printing and production run printing.
Re: MOD-1 DTG HD Video of the machine in action at SGIA 2008
Thanks Robert and Michele for pointing out those features and differences.
If I may ....
In addition to the Auto Multi-Pass the MOD1 is the only platform that has the ability to detect the last raster of the image and perform a RAPID 2nd Pass.
As Jerid mentioned:

For example, let's say your printing a pocket print and you want to double pass or the 1st pass is white, the platen will stop right after the last pass of the ink head is finished and return from that point (even if it's only 4" (100mm) long) without performing a homing routine or moving all the way out and back.
This feature is a real time saver and over a day of continuous running can add up to many more prints per hour.

Sir,
Jerid Hill will be repping the MOD series line along with Belquette's own factory trained techs.
Information can be found at both locations.
The MOD series use a proprietary closed and pressurized ink delivery system that insures consistency and quality and is an integral part of our system.
In addition it can also accommodate aqueous based inks along with an oil based ink for direct printing onto non porous substrates.

The oil based ink set includes L,C,M,Y,K,LC,LM, and is exclusive to the MOD series.
This ink adheres well to most hard surfaces such as golf balls, poker chips, acrylic, baseballs, even beer cosy's, candles with 100% coverage all away round.
YES ALL AROUND NOT JUST A SMALL AREA.
More on this later
All Mod bases can control 2 printers, so one could be loaded with textile inks and one with oil based inks, just select the printer of choice in software and go, no need to swap out modules.
It's a true multipurpose platform that can be expanded and grow into production levels if need be.
