Did your friend buy the machine new? Or was it used, this can make a difference. If its new has he talked to the distributor he bought it from? I had this happen on my HM1 and it was my mother board, it went thru all the motions and looked like it was printing but no ink was coming out. Is the printhead moving over where the graphic is supposed to be and looking like its printing but no ink? That was what happened to my machine. If he has a warranty I would call the distributor as soon as possible.

So the machine would still move like its printing with a bad motherboard?

Or it could also be the ribbon cable. I would check the 2 cables that go into the printhead and make sure both are seated properly. But yes it would look like its printing but with no ink. Also does it have a resettable fuse on the board? I know the tjet does, unfortunately mine didnt so it had to be replaced. Usually what can cause this is the fuse blowing out on the board.

My first question would be if he or she did a power clean to prime the system?
Maybe a little more information as to what was done would help.

Thank you for your suggestions, but hold on, the last thing we as the manufacturer suggest is getting into anything. Please this machine does not have anything in common with the T-Jet except for the origin of the print engine.

Please pm me your info and I will direct it to someone that can assist you.

I was only giving a suggestion of things to look at I myself do not own a flexi jet, I simply gave an example of what happened on my HM1, and also in the same post told them to call the distributor they bought it from. I would never tell anyone to do anything that they dont feel they are capable of doing. I in fact has the distributor fix mine As you can see in my first post, I did tell them that the best thing to do was call the distributor to get help. The reason I asked if they bought it used was because maybe they are not in warranty anymore and that would make a difference. If it is new of course the distributor should help them to get it printing. I only answered because they posted a question asking for help, and I was trying to help.

Sorry I did not mean to come across derogatory, I appreciate your suggestions and know you have been a great asset to the DTG community.
I'm just being cautious because when things don,t seem to work sometimes we can all get a bit aggressive and overlook the simple things...

Thats ok Mark I would think that if the machine were new the first person they would call would be the person they purchased it from, at least that is what I would do. They didnt give much info except the fact that the machine was acting like it was printing but putting down no ink I did not mean to make it sound like I knew what was wrong with their particular machine, as I stated above I dont own a flexijet but did have a similar problem with my machine, and what the problem had been. I in no way would suggest anyone trying to fix that problem themselves although if it were just a loose cable on the printhead it would not be difficult to check.

The Flexi sure has come a long ways since the old days of "connect this wire here, and that wire there to fix the ESD issue", eh?

How are things developing with the new platform, Mark? I sent you an e-mail recently - haven't heard back yet. We are looking into all sorts of interesting options for the long term future of our company, and I certainly haven't ruled out an innovative Epson based solution, if it can deliver. Keep me posted! Not much detail on your site, yet, but enough to keep me interested for now!

Hi Justin,

Sorry I missed your email, can you resend it?

The new platform is morphing into exactly what we engineered.
I know the web site info on the "mod1" is vague but that's intentional

Thanks

Mark
