Discussion, tips, pictures, reviews and peer to peer support for current and future owners of Belquette manufactured machines, including the MOD-1 DTG machine and the Flexi-Jet set series of printers.
I just purchased the printer jockey from printerjockey.com and I have to say this is great program! I just got my Flexi-Jet up and running over the weekend and I am trying to get a maintenance routine down and having this software seems to be saving ink by just directing channel flushes to the problem color/line. I like the fact that you can slowly progress the amount of ink you lay down depending on the nozzle check.
I know there are some other useful features in the software but I have yet to try them out. I really think all the Direct to Garment Manufacturers that use epson printers should include this to people who purchase their printer.
Here is some links to videos on how to use the Printer Jockey software - YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.. Hope it helps you learn the power of the software faster. Some new improvements are coming soon as well that you will be able to upgrade for free.
Mark,
Unless I missed it, is there a way to perform a nozzle check directly from the printer jockey and if not is this something that may be added in the future?

Has anyone here been using this software?
Hi Dan,
Thanks for your support!
The capability to do nozzle-checks and standard nozzle cleans are absolutely going to be in upcoming versions of PrinterJockey. Also upcoming are "scheduled mini-flush" and "preview print file" features. The scheduled-miniflush simply prints a small job every so often (you set up the schedule) to keep the head in use. This is not very handy for d.t.g. machines as you have to be present to push the "go" button (except on the flexi, you can just leave it "on line"). The "preview print files" is actually a "reverse-RIP" in that it takes the ESC/P2 code (Epson native language) and turns it back into a viewable bitmap so you can display it or even use it in another document. The latter will take longer as it is much more involved. As always, current owners of PrinterJockey can just download the latest version for free. I try to improve the program as often as my schedule permits. If you have requests or ideas to improve it, don't hesitate to use the feedback page (C-Horse Software, Inc.)
Need to clear something up about Printer Jockey. It is a print utility program that allows you to do the following:
- Timed cleanings
- Timed test prints
- Nozzle checks & head cleans
- Production runs without having to reprocess the job
and several other things.
It is not a printing or RIP application. It was developed by the lead programmer of one of the dtg RIP manufacturers and is designed to help keep dtg printers running. However, you are still going to need a RIP to print dark garments with a dtg printer.
Thank you Mark. I understand needing the rip for using white underbase for colored shirts but I have gotten into a slump what with the economy and my situation at home. What I'm exploring here is to make a decent working DTG for whites and when I get things moving, getting the multirip GP to work with dark shirts as an exansion to the white shirts printing. There was a post by someone that what they were using does something for alignment that printer jockey does also, at least supposed to do. I recon calling it rip was a misnomer on my part but am still curious about the print alignment that was mentioned in the other thread?
Will this work with the T-Jet using the epson 2200 print head

Well, you know you can use the standard Epson driver for printing on light color garments in some cases. For example, many of the earlier T-Jet1 users were using just the Epson driver when they were printing CMYKLcLmLlk setup. Most of them had to do two passes, but it was possible and did not require a RIP. Now this will not work on the Epson 1900 because the driver has colors that we don't have ink for (i.e. red, orange & gloss optimizer). I have not heard anyone try to use the 1400 printer as a CMYKLcLm with the Epson driver... but that might be something for you too look at. You could also try the smaller sized printers that are CMYK only as well. Most likely, you are going to need to do two passes.
Unfortunately, the Printer Jockey software will not do what you are looking for.

The printer jockey software will work on T-Jet printers as a print utility program for cleaning / preventative maintenance, but not as a printing software program.
