Hey,

sorry if this has been asked before, I tried searching but it seems "silk screen" and "cheap" are in every second thread

As the title says, I'm looking for cheap silk screens. Currently I use aluminum framed 500x600mm screens with 32T mesh. I want slightly larger screens, but that size would be okay too.

Thickness of the frame is not important as I won't be slotting them into a carousel. I basically just want something dirt cheap so that I can afford not to reclaim my screens and archive my designs.

I used to get screens from a Chinese guy on ebay for like $10 or less delivered but his business has disappeared and now I am facing the local prices of $40.00 or more for something up to the job.

The essentials: aluminum (or wood if it's of a quality that won't warp), 500x600 or larger, 32T/48T, dirt cheap.

I get my frames off ebay for 15-20 dollars a piece. I would love to find some cheap frames

So eBay is where people in the industry get their screens from? That sucks. I talked to a business in China that make them, 100 pieces minimum, with very good quality aluminum and mesh (so I was told), they could sell them to me for US$18.00, with the Australian dollar doing so badly that's pretty damn expensive still. When our dollar perks up though, perhaps a big group of us could put in a big bulk buy? So long as at least 100 were being sent to each city I'm sure it would end up pretty cheap.

why would you want cheap screens? cheap screen = crappy prints. also you can get decent wood frames for 20 bucks or under. i would check out www.melray.com i would stay away from buying your supplies on ebay.

cheap and quality I should say then. The reason i ask is because I've sourced them out before, like I said <AU$15.00 delivered for good quality Chinese made aluminium frame screens with 43T mesh stretched. If there's nothing great around I'll just buy them for more.

you are not going to get cheap and quality. you are going to have to spend a little bit of money. i mean not much but a little. everyone of my customers pays a screen useage charge of 20.00 per screen used in the production of their order. not one of them complains about it
