I've been reading the topic for some time and heard rave reviews on prints with the Brother. Too bad it's only available in the USA.
Gonna take a look at the prints and compare the quality...

ok guys, im seriously considering some equipment such as the hotronix and roland/graphtec cutter. the question is, is it more worth it to purchase overseas then locally? Ive calculated and the saving is VERY significant. close to 1k in difference, including GST, shipping, currency exchange (anything else i missed?)

if i purchase overseas, will warranty be void? what kind of power output/adapter will i need, 240V?

i mean i dun mind purchasing from local companies and i know they have to make a profit...but 1k is really alot. i can get 200 shirts with that amount. heh. so any comments anyone?

Fadzuli, the ppl selling you the machine should be able to answer your questions about the warranty & adapater. Some products may have international warranty, and some may have warranty in several countries only. For example, I purchased an all-in-one printer in Singapore, and it comes with a warranty that covers Singapore, India and China.

If you've done your calculations right, a $1000 difference is indeed a lot of money. Apart from GST, find out if you have to pay customs duty.

locally, for roland gx-24 was ard 3k++, graphtec ce5000-60 would be 2.6k, graphtec ce5000-40 (craft robo pro, i think) was 1.9k. prices are without GST.

overseas, PCut CT630 was about 400++ without shipping & GST. but mind you this does not have an "optical eye". so if you're thinking of cutting heat transfers then this one's out. but currently im reading through the forum and someone has a sort of method to make it contour cut by manually aligning the blade, etc. its a bit tedious but hey u get wat u pay for right? well, the case is rather inconclusive as i read through so im not sure if it really works.

basically i was looking into at least an A3 size cutter.

where did you get the quote for the craft robo? do you happen to have a quote for the craft robo pro?

I wouldn't recommend using vpost unless you can't get it shipped out to the States (due to some controls). I've tried them before and found the service to be slow and unhelpful. Try asking the supplier if they have contacts of other freight forwarders. Plus it would be good to know that they have done such arrangements before.

Btw, i've done a check on the printout using plastisol, screen print, and dtg. Found out that a soft feel would really be either SP or DTG. Unless you're gonna use 100% polyester, which then is REALLY comfy.

Opinions?

really? ive used it before as well and i find it satisfactory. heh.

wat kind of screen printing? plastisol or water based? if its plastisol, you should try water based...can hardly feel any hand. and ya DTG will definitely give the softest hand. ive been reading the thread in the forum about building your own dtg printer...very tempting to try it out...perhaps when i have a spare printer and extra time on my hands. anyone would like to donate a printer? =P

oh where did u see the sample for the dtg? im curious as well. =)

Hi guys

I did some research recently on the prices here are the informations i've got:

Mimaki CG 60 SR (24inch) S$3800 before GST
Roland GX24 (24inch)is S$3200 before GST
Graphtec ce5000 (24inch)is S$3500 before GST
Graphtec Craft Robo Pro (A3 Size) S$1800 before GST
Graphtec Craft Robo (A4 Size) S$699 (promotion S$499)
PCUT(China/Taiwan Made) (24" Inch) S$1300 before GST(No Print & Cut function)

I've placed the cutters based on the quality, speed and accurate plotting,
for contour cutting Craft robo pro is just not worth the price it's not accurate most of the time

hope this helps btw DTG print sucks they are rough and won't last more than 10 washes

Sublimation on polyester tshirt has no feel and its very affortable,
but it only work on white tshirts.

btw some of the techiques and technology used is not available in Singapore and Asia due to restriction like pastisol.
