for a starter like you, Majo (just assuming you are really new to this trade)....i'd go with screen printing FIRST. learn the how-tos (like emulsion & sensitizer, screen frame and mesh count, artwork and exposure, etc)...or find an actual training... pay them to teach you... it's a good investment. (back then i paid 1,500 peso for a one day workshop...it opened up the whole world of screen printing to me)...

once you learn the basic and confidently think you can do it... NEXT find the suppliers of materials. if you live in Manila, suppliers are in Divisoria (Virgo for ink, emulsion, etc and t-shirts are along Juan Luna)...

next, learn heat press transfer... go with vinyl heat press. with vinyl, you need to have a vinyl cutter and heat press and vinyl for t-shirt.... that's be your next lessons.

now, what i am telling you right now is based on my experience. that's how i started in this trade. other people may have a different approach. in my case, i didn't have startup capital. i started using my paycheque and grew from there.

can you afford the incandescent bulb or "bombilya"... how many can you afford with those?... use those if flourescent is too expensive. buy the white "bombilya". buy 8 or more of those then you are good to go. the brightness of 8 "bombilya" is good enough to expose artwork. trust me... i have experience with "bombilya" too.

Thanks sir! I've seen several methods of screen printing in youtube.. They're cool! The results seem to be nice & durable but the process looks kinda complicated.. Can we actually find those materials in the country?

Thanks for the info, Frank! I already have a list of suppliers... I've read some of them from this forum (& tried to look for them ). Luckily, I live in Tondo... Juan Luna & Divisoria are just few blocks away..

The vinyl transfer process looks pretty cool but the vinyl cutter looks very expensive... I don't have enough budget for that at the moment... Thanks for giving me your insights anyway... They really are helpful! Hopefully I can grab one in the future... hehehe...

By the way, sir... The plastisol transfer looks ok... Do you know what kind of paper do they use in that process? What type of ink? (I'm sorry, I've never heard of this process before... I've just seen it from the video) Is it expensive? Is it also available in the country? It looks better compared to the light/dark transfer papers but I really have no idea about the price & how to make one... hehehe...

Sir, I'm sorry for all these questions... I hope I'm not annoying you... Thanks sooooo much in advance!

@Majo
i got my 24" vinyl cutter for $200 (24") at eBay.... try to search in Manila. I am pretty sure this kind of machine is cheaper there. and also find a supplier of vinyl roll for t-shirt.

once you get this machine, you might want to consider doing signages too.

regarding plastisol transfer.... am have ZERO knowledge about this process.

Yep, I'm definitely going to try this route for my exposure unit. Thanks for the info chief...

Welcome to the forums, Jon. I believe that's the Fukutomi Singapore's DTG printer. There's another discussion thread here: DFP DGJet 300i dtg printer - does anyone have one?
It's a good idea to test the machine first before making that big investment; bring your own file, and ask them to print on black tees, and see for yourself the process (pre-treatment, heat-pressing, art-preparation, white-underbase-printing, CMYK-printing, final-heat-pressing). Also, ask them if there's any warranty on the print heads and what the ink costs are. I hope to see your post on your impression with the machine again later.

I just attended the recent Negoskwela screen printing seminar last Nov. 14-16 and it was great! Very informative. Our trainer is Mr. Gunio, nice and very knowledgeable in the screen printing business. I recommend it to all beginners and newbies alike (like myself).

Mag kano ganitong printer sa atin DTG?Hirap kasi sa atin pag bumili ka ng machine kailangan cash or deposit then full pay after delivery. Kaya hirap din bumili ng machine dyan.

Hi, I have previous experience in silkscreen printing using green film. I'm going to try the emulsion technique next but what I'm really interested in is the Heat Transfer printing process. What types of t-shirts are best for this process? Are the Vinyl for t shirts available here in the Philippines? Thanks!
