Re: Where can I buy a cheap screenprinting machine here in the Philippines?
NEED SOME HELP:
I started to do my first try on silkscreen printing. I bought my screen from jj virgo, including their photo emulsion.
These are the process i follow:
1. I print my design on a 8.5 by 11 bond paper and photocopy it on a trasparency.
2. i mixed my emulsion and applied it over my screen back to back
and put it inside a box, stored overnight inside my closet.
3. I put a black felt paper over a table and put my screen over it paper side down then put my transparency over the squeegee side then put a heavy glass over it. Then position my 500 watts flood light 12inches over it and exposed it for 7 minutes
4. After i exposed my screen, i immediately washed it to reveal my design. i put some pressure while washing it. (is it normal to scrub it using your fingers just to reveal your design?) washing the screen to reveal my design is a bit painstaking, is that normal.
5. After i cleared my design. i put the screen over my red shirt put some white textile ink that i bought in national bookstore and floodstroke it first, then immediately apply pressure to print it on my shirt. (the white is not white, it's horrible. it's so pale.)
I'M SO FRUSTRATED, I use again another screen i bought in national and apply emulsion on just one side and store it on my closet overnight. then this time i set up my floodlight i bit higher and exposed fro about 15mins. but after i washed it, I can't see my design it's just like a shadow, only i few letters showed in detail, and before i really clear it, it really tiring.
What do you think i'm doing wrong? please i need some expert advise on the right exposure using 500 watts floodlight. and advise on paint to use. i only have access on ink from national.

[quote=danz11515;283618]over exposed, i expose my screens in just 2 mins 30 secs. of course the exposure times depends on the emulsion used.
Hi Sir Danz, so you suggest to expose it 2mins 30secs for my emulsion from jj virgo? by the way i'm using 500 watts of floodlight, so 12 inches height is enough? how about washing the screen, do i need some pressure spray for the design to show?
with the ink, i suggest you buy the opaque one at tulco in sta. mesa, and don't put too much pressure when applying ?
Re: Where can I buy a cheap screenprinting machine here in the Philippines?
dan tnong ko lng kc nag try ako ng virgo n emulsion then i exposed it 20 mins., i used 500watts n floodlight ang layo nya sa ilaw ay 24 inches pag inis-pray kona ok nman pero once n ngamit ko yung screen hinuhugasan ko na ntatanggal n yung emulsion bkit ganun ano kulang sa skin?
another question pa! where did you buy your flash cure kc yun lng diba mkakatuyo sa plastisol and how much?
and another thing meron k bng kilala n nag sesetup ng screenprinting table or yung sinusuot lng yung damit n meron micro registration

Medyo matagal bago me naka reply, anyway, what i mean is, many factors affect the correct time of exposure of your screens, (brand of emulsion, number of coats, type of art work used, type of lights used) what i meant to say was if with your first try nothing came out, most probably over exposed yun. you should try to shorten the exposure time. you should also lessen the variables involved, make sure you keep your number of coats the same. thr distance to your lights the same, emulsion... etc.
with regards with the pressure washer bit, no, you don't need a pressure washer to get the design to show. Me, i use a wet sponge(not dripping) and wipe the top and front of the screen a few times. the design will lighten, the i simply use a spray bottle. A power sprayer comes in handy though when your cleaning your screens... makes my life easier.

What i meant here was, to get a thick amount of ink "on" your garment, don't give too much pressure when you pass your squeegee on the screen (para hindi pumasok yung ink sa fibers ng tela). and use off contact.

What do you mean once nagamit mo na? after printing? what pinang hugas mo? natatangal sa chlorox/alcohol ang emulsion. What pala gamit mo na emulsion, make sure na tugma sya sa ink(plastisol?waterbased?) or It might just come off because of wear and tear, specially if youve just printed a thousand shirts. One way pala of making your screens stronger is with the use of "emulsion hardener".
I bought my flashcure sa TULCO, costs Php35,000. Meron din sa MULTIPRINT, you can google for their number/address they have a website. But if you want to save a few bucks, try using a heatpress, kaso you can't use a heatpress with the special prints, (3D embossed, etc).
Tungkol naman dun sa screen printing setup, i made my own yung sinusuot sa pallet, tapos yung micro registration is sa screen, but it's hard to describe. medyo mahal kasi yung mga rotary na may micro.

ginamit ko lng sya ng 10 pcs of tshirt hinugasan ko sya ng tubig lng! jj virgo n umulsion ang ginamit ko, gumamit din ako emulsion hardener pero ntangal prin yung emulsion hindi kya sya under expose
Re: Where can I buy a cheap screenprinting machine here in the Philippines?
I can't think of anything you might have done wrong... did you follow the mixing instructions for your particular emulsion? Did you mix it in a darkroom? did you ever open your emulsion container in a bright room after being sensitized? did you place too much water when you mixed it?
If all else fails, buy a new batch of emulsion and try to mix a new batch. But be very careful this time, you might have just exposed it unknowingly.
p.s. try to write in english, baka magalit yung mga moderators ng t-shirtforums, nasabihan na kasi ako dati.

dan, i have a question again, what kind of exposing unit do you have and what the wattage of your light bulb and what is the distance from the bulb to the screen, what is your technique in exposing your screen because i heard that you only exposing your screen 2-3 mins., because i used 500watts flood light bulb and the distance is 24 inches from the bulb i used virgo brand of emulsion but it takes me 20min. in exposing

I bought my exposing unit from my prof at Negoskwela, it was i think 3.8K. Let me describe it nalang so you have an idea. it has 4 18 watt blue actinic flourescent bulbs. The one used in insect killers. (masakit sa mata kasi mataas ung UV nya) The one marked in the bulb is "FL-20SB/18 blue" i think the brand is TFC. Not sure if you can buy this kind in any hardware, but i think i saw it once in handyman. then the distance from the glass to the top of the lights is about 6". The glass he, my prof, uses is very thick, so it could support heavy weights para walang galaw yung screen and sharp yung pagkaka burn sa kanya.
