I know there are also other instructors there on other months siguro. I took the february 2007 seminar schedule last year. I enrolled basically to just learn the "professional" way of doing screenprinting, a relative already taught me the basics and some home-made techniques, just wanted to see a professional using the right equipments. (i use the sun to expose my screens..heheh)

I never had a chance to buy any equipment from him, but maybe in the future if I intend to really start my business..ehehe, as of now, i just consider it my hobby.

What equipments does he sell now? Last year, he offered to build a light box for 2,000++ to those interested to start right away...

He sells his exposing unit for Php 3,800 if i remember correctly. Works like a charm...
It exposes my screens in about 2-3mins. depending on the number of coats. Great help for people like me who wants to start with a low budget.

will take a picture of it if i get the time. but i suggest that you buy it nalang from him. less hassle. because if you have to make it yourself you have to buy and cut thick glass, and i'm not sure if you could buy scrap.

thanks! I'm just going to use it kasi for my hobby and not business..but I'm thinking on investing on this thing din. I got used to burning my screens from the Sun, but it's hard and always not accurate, plus i only get to burn on mornings.

What emulsion are you guys using for the 3-4 mins exposure time?

Smile Re: Where can I buy a cheap screenprinting machine here in the Philippines?

Hi everyone. just want to know some question regarding silkscreen printing. i'm really interested in printing my own shirt. I've watched a lot of silkscreen video in youtube, and im really excited to try it. But i have a lot of question before i proceed.

1.Create your artwork then print it on a transparency (this is one of my question) can i just buy one in national bookstore which says for inkjet printer, what do you call that transparency like paper where they print the artwork then use it on top of the screen with emulsion to expose the design on your silkscreen? where can i buy that?
2. What is that green film they are selling in national bookstore?

3. Regarding the textile paint to use. is it okay to buy that generic paint in national or do i need to buy paint in places like jj virgo or tulco. wanna know more about the difference in look of each paint before i use it, (if somebody here can educate me on this, thanks in advance)

4. After using my silkscreen on one project, how can i remove the emulsion and use it for another design.

thats all for now. please need your advice here. thanks

Hi pacman

1. It is called "Transparency OHP Film for inkjet Printers" You can buy it @ National bookstore, costs 194.00 per 10 pcs. Or you could also use tracing paper, I think they also have them in bondpaper size.

2. The green film, not very sure, never used them before.

3. It's better to buy them direct from Tulco, jj or virgo. You could also ask them directly. Most stores are very accommodating, except tulco, they always are packed with customers.

4. When you buy emulsion, you should also buy emulsion remover for that particular brand of emulsion.

I suggest if you have the time, try to enroll at negoskwela, costs around 3.8k if i remember correctly. Mas makakatipid ka in the long run because you don't have to waste chemicals/ink experimenting on stuff.

Thanks danz11515,

I bought the emulsion from jj virgo and i asked them what will apply if i want to reuse my screen and create another design, they said that i can use zonrox to remove the emulsion.

I really want to enroll for a formal training but don't have the time, because i'm a full time film and tv commercial editor, so i'll just gather all the info and start from there.
By the way, so you dont recommend the paint in national bookstore? I really want to buy the gold paint to use in my first try in jj virgo but i find the vendor not so accomodating. I really want to know the basic knowledge regarding paint to use. (wet look, etc..) maybe you can help me understand.
Regarding printing of my artwork on the transparency, Is there any setting on photoshop so i can make my print really dark(i mean the black) or can u reccomend something on how to print it. thanks so much for your help

Default Re: Where can I buy a cheap screenprinting machine here in the Philippines?

To get the prints to become dark enough, I use photoshop and copy the layers a few times, then set the layers above to multiply, then when printing, a adjust the settings of brightness to -25, contrast to +25, color saturation to +25. When the print comes out, dark na dark na.

concerning nman the seminar, 3 days lang naman. and minsan natataon pa na weekend.

Concerning the paints, as the names suggest, pag wetlook the prints look wet, rubberized looks like rubber and feels like rubber and has a heavy hand(salat). Me i use Plastisol kasi kaya i'm not that familiar with the other type of inks sa waterbased.

I also like the way metallics look on shirts. Just remember not to put too much (nipisan mo lang) para wala masyadong salat, sabagay it depends din naman on your taste, for me kasi i don't like rubberized and wetlook, medyo mainit sa katawan.

thanks, actually the look that i want is yung parang print ng team manila. are you familiar with their print? what kind of paint kaya yon. I want the print to be seamless sana yung walang salat. pano ba ginagawa yon. yung malambot tingnan.

You use the green film if your doing a hand-made stencil. Not that effective on designs with intricate details and thin lines. You'll be using exacto knife for that. de-mano style.
