Hi Retrô,
Can't remember if you were SA or EU, but your supply would depend on your location. There are the bulk systems, but the advantage to the Anajet, Brother and new printers coming out, is the closed system. I'd at least start out using a closed loop system to begin with. Dupont seems to be the best choice, though there are a couple of others out there, if you are willing to profile and test. The "chip" is seperate from the carts and its on a block that sits in the head carrage. The chip counts the amount of ink ejected. The chips need to be reset through the software every so often. They have no effect in the ink "system".
Not sure of all the mechanics of it, but the new sprint is supposedly a little faster. Now understand that the new software also supports higher resolution (stepper and head) in using a higher resolution, normally you increase print time. This is the same for any printer that alows you to choose "quality" settings. Perhaps with the new Gen2 head the increase in speed will allow for using finer increments and not lose production speed. The new platen has a hold-down, though I believe some of the later 125s were shipped with this. The updated RIP has a few new features and I believe they are including a "print-to" drivers that will allow you to print darks from other apps. I'm also excited in seeing the new poly inks, though I've heard no word on "when" yet.
