... and set it next to an equally hacked apart Epson 1800? Well, first off, you probably get a lot of flack for hacking things apart unnecessarily. The preferred method would be to "carefully dismantle" each respective machine, as the individual who owns these machines has done:

As we have all discussed, previously, most people do NOT consider it a negative thing to be based on an Epson printer; after all, they ARE one of the most reliable and prolific desktop printers in the entire world. The discussion is simply an "is it, or isn't it?" type discussion.
