I want a better print head for my Anajet, but how?
I have an Anajet DTG printer that I purchased more than 7 months ago with no training, just trial and error. There website and the over the phone tech support is great, but I now see that if anyone buys a DTG printer they should have hands on training on it first before the machine arrives. I live in North Carolina and Anajet is in California, I found the travel time to be too long because I have a Screen Printing business to run and there offer of a one way ticket was kind of weak. I now wish that I had purchase a DTG printer that offered regional support or one that made or serviced their printers in the southeast. I should have purchased a Flexi jet, they there one state away in South Carolina, but Hey, you live and learn.
Now my Anajet needs a new print head on it. My research on this website and others, tells me that this is a 1800 Epson print head with a history of drying out and replacing. Epson has now replaced the 1800 model with an 1900 model with the only real difference between them is a better built print head. I could buy the print head from Anajet but the price is too high compared to a 1800 Epson print head purchased online. If I've got to replace it myself then why should I pay so much? From reading others at this website, Anajet won't even admit that it is an Epson 1800 print head so how can they address it's problems. So I'm on my own and T-shirt forums is my only hope.
I do like my Anajet, it's a great machine but I want it to work better for me, I want a better print head that's going to last longer than what's is in it now. I want to purchase a Epson 1900 print head but will it fit on my Anajet? If I knew that the print head Anajet was going to sell me was a better built print head that than what's inside it now, then I would happily purchase it from them. Any advice would help.
Re: I want a better print head for my Anajet, but how?
well I too was looking to get the r1800 print head for $100 cheaper but the it did not work
seems there is a number that has to be added to the software to make the new head work and the r1800 was a few caricatures short and it wont work
wasted $275 just get the right one and dont leave the white ink in for more that 3 days
Re: I want a better print head for my Anajet, but how?
I purchased the R1900 printhead for my Anajet and you are right about the digit of numbers on being different from the R1800 but it does not matter for it to work on your Anajet printer. The R1800 Adjustment Program still works and talks to my Anajet printer so I don't think it's an issue. I talked to an Anajet owner last week who told me the same thing that I'm relaying to you now. I'm still hopeful this will work because this other Anajet owner has been where we are now with his R1900 printhead on his Anajet and his machine is up and running again better than ever. I even called Anajet about this yesterday and their tech people have sent me an e-mail back telling me that my warranty is now void but they think it should work and they want to hear back from me when I do get the R1900 and my Anajet working again. Right now, we are both in the same situation because my printer with an installed R1900 is not working but I think that it may be because I need to replace the Dampers or the computer ribbon that supplies power to the printhead may not be working. I'm starting with purchasing new Dampers for my machine today. Any feedback on what other things you have done would be helpful and it's nice to know that someone out there is having the same problems that I have. I would love to know where you got your R1900 printhead at, you paid a lot less that what I did for it.
Re: I want a better print head for my Anajet, but how?
Hello Phil,
You still having trouble getting it to print? My Anajet came with the 1900 head when I bought it, had trouble with the head clogged, changed to a 1800 head for a while than changed back to a 1900 head.
Not a once did I go in and change head rank number in the adjust program.
Do make sure you hooked the ribbon cable to the right part on the head. Once you put it all together make sure you dont have the error light number 4 on, if it is that is the ink chip holder and will need to be replaced.
Are you running full 8 channels of color or the first 4 color than the back 4 white?
I switch to 8 channels of color for the summer and the back 4 was white. If you are changing to full color make sure you tell the machine you are wanting all 8 lines color and not just the front 4.
Was your lines clogged before you changed the head?
Give me a call if you need a little more help.
Re: I want a better print head for my Anajet, but how?
Right now we are waiting for eight new dampers, because we now think that our old dampers were not getting cleaning fluid inside the printheads. It was my hope to start replacing them during the holidays but they have yet to arrive. We order the dampers from Best Blanks out in Florida because it was closer to our location, so I'm going to call about this on Tuesday. The ribbon that connects to the printhead will be the next part to be replaced if the new dampers do not work. I've picked up a lot of screen printing jobs last week from some new and repeat business, so working on it will be hard to do this week.
Re: I want a better print head for my Anajet, but how?
I wish I lived closer I would come get it running for you, I have 2 sets of new lines with dampers ready to go and have worked on mine enough to be a tech almost
If you have any other problem let me know and I can help you out as much as possible.
Re: I want a better print head for my Anajet, but how?
I wouldnt go out and buy a new head just for the fact of getting the 1900 head but if the 1800 goes bad or gets plugged up like mine did than I just moved up to the newer head.
Re: I want a better print head for my Anajet, but how?
I just checked and the r1900 cost less than the r1800
so what is the improvement with the new head
hope I don't need one but nice to know if it work and what the benefits are
Re: I want a better print head for my Anajet, but how?
The 1900 has a teflon face which is very easy to clean since the face is so slick. You can tell if it is the 1900 head by just looking at it, the face of the print head will be like a mirror and the 1800 will have a tan look to it.
As far as print quality, I really cant tell much difference. I am sure if you ask a print head specialist there will be a difference but for shirts and such I really cant tell.

Thanks Carl,
If all is working well with your ink delivery system there should be no reason to ever clean the nozzle plate, in fact you are actually doing a disservice to it's integrity.
The cleaning function should only be preformed by the wiper blade,....a clean wiper blade!

Re: I want a better print head for my Anajet, but how?
well seems the 4 white are clogged, I put the cleaning fluid in right after printing black shirts, but she will not move.
I was sure I had all the white out but looks like this got me again. I really cant believe this has happened again.
ya I was told that the r1900 was a better print head and that its compatible
just checking if anyone got it to work as I seem to be knocked out
