I currently have the Anajet Fp125 machine but wish to sell, for a different Apparel printer. What do people reccomend as a reliable cost effective machine? i was currently browsing the Brother machines what is the best one to purchase and why?
Thank you
Hirsch International claims that the Mimaki GP-604:
"boasts the largest print area and lowest ink cost of any tabletop inkjet to garment printer. The sealed ink system and superior engineering makes Mimaki GP604 the proven winner in ease of maintenance and reliability."
on their website here: Mimaki GP604 Direct to Garment Printer
For some reason, they only sell the "for white/lights" only version (not the discharge version). Might we worth considering along with the proven Brother GT-541. Good luck on your search.
Mimaki seem to be a troublesome machine, barely anyone has one, anyone that has, gotten rid of it do to heads clogging and other issues, only reason I would ever look at one is the discharge feature that kools and the large platen for all over printing... : )
The new brother in my opinion is a waste of money
for 65k I can buy a used UV flatbed printer and make more money faster
Machine is what 55k? plus freight any other grand, guy come install a few thous, heater and installation of heater 5 to 7 K.... for a machine that has mystery ink cost and supposedly heads that won;t clog "yea right'
Oh and a pretreat machine that's prob 4 to 5k plus shipping
White ink is white ink, its heavy dense and loves to mess with print heads : )
Personally I think the machine will have issues because two swinging heads make me think... hmm more complex, more things can go wrong ... It just coming out and I don't wanna be a genie pig ...
I will never, ever use a machine with white ink, because in the end, I gotta pre treat it, maintain machine more, higher ink cost which will force me to jack cost of garment to be almost triple of white and i gotta somehow justify that to client...
Don;t get me wrong, looks like sweet machine but its prob gonna be a heart break to first entrepenuars
Ed & Sean, Can you tell me whats wrong with the Anajet? I was thinking of buying one myself at the atlantic city show. either that or the dtg hm1 from SWF. Please advice. I dont want to make a blunder in this kind of economy.
What if the next machine is one with discharge (no pretreatment necessary?) and a "not so opaque" white ink (with less titanium oxide = less head clogging)? Then, there's another machine with a denser white ink (more opaque so no pretreatment) but uses a valve jet head to prevent head clogging. I'm not yet giving up on printing on those black tees using a DTG.

and pig will fly that day Lol.
Only people that did printing dark garment right is Kornit and by that I mean the ease of doing them and technology
But its way to pricey and again, technology ain't there yet because there still making software tweeks and so on...
If the make a dream machine like you mention, than I will reconsider what i said but won;t happen for another 10 years : ) ... Mimaki was going on right path until they didn't make anymore advances in the technology

With an Anajet machine, it is a hit or miss deal... but main issues are these... There rip sucks but I heard people using Multirip get better results
They will sell you refurbished machines without telling you and thing may go wrong with that.
They also go cheap about ink manufacturing, where they were doing it in house and not getting all air out of it resulting into resulting your machine.
Than there are mystery issues where things just don't work on it HaHa..
Print quality is good but not great in my opinion...
I also hate how I gotta tweak certain images 3 times so it prints it right err..
When it works, it is great machine, but when it doesn;t it will drive you insane : )
Lately it been working good but time will tell what will happen next.
Oh and print in dual CMKY, print White with it and meet your Doom

I'm hoping and praying for all our sakes that Mimaki will wake up and give the industry a jolt soon (and not 10 years later). Did you notice that their JV33 already has the "white-ink overlay print" function already? http://www.mimaki.co.jp/english/topics/jv33ink/
Maybe they could combine this with the "discharge print" on their t-shirt printer and then we will have our dream machine. And yes, their ink technology and factory should be more reliable than the Anajets.
Yes, My machine can have white ink to, but maybe 1 or 2 percent ever get it because ink cost again are high, high maintance on machine, and once you put white ink in it, there is not turning back
Unless you change alotta things which will cost thousands of dollars.
It kool effect, but unless you got a high demand for it, well its a waste.
It seem to work fine in UV machines that has White ink plus clear coat to give raised effect.
I looked how Mimaki has other amazing DTG machines which they don't market or sell anymore that uses acid or something to print on cashmere, silk, wool ect.
It Anajets new model which is totally sweet.... you press prints button, it screams like Micheal Jackson and save you the time of shipping it to Anajet by it teleporting itself there which you needed to save box or paying shipping fees.. I will just buy it for screaming feature

Nothing wrong with AnaJet. But you should take the training. If not you may fall into trouble very quickly. Many folks that complain, are due to lack of training, or not following the operating procedure.

AnaJet and Brother both provide excellent CMYK print reults on light colored garmnets. Black t shirt printing requires training, patience and know how to pretreat the black shirt. If you are having trouble with your AnaJet. Help is available. When did you take your training in CA.?
